Tech Stuff and Friendster Blogs I Want To Read Again

I fiddled around with this Wordpress theme and exploring its limitations capabilities. As you’ve noticed I’ve added some badges on the sidebars –unfortunately, some didn’t come out right
so we’ve got some bugs there. Plus, I can’t customize each sidebar. I’ve tried to but they still end up copying each other.
To summarize here’s what you can’t do in your Friendster Wordpress blog:
- You cannot put Ad Sense so you can’t earn money from your blog unless you got an affiliated link or something.
- You cannot post videos and I’m assuming music files either.
- Only selected badges can be put up
- You cannot add a friendster blog immediately to your blogroll unlike wordpress.com
But it’s such a relief blogging in this Friendster-Wordpress platform than before because you’re able to at least tweak some things a bit like adding code to your text files (go to Design-Widgets-Add Text in your wordpress dashboard).
I’m also trying to find out if I can add social bookmarks stuff here as well not to add traffic to my blog but just to see if it can be done. Update: Can add social bookmarks. Yes! Unfortunately, I cannot add the Digg button.
If you want to know how to use the different smileys for your blog, click here.
Some cool things you can do with your new Friendster-Wordpress(FW) blog:
- Insert, resize and move pics in your post like the one above
- Can add advertisements to your sidebars
- Add some badges to your sidebars
- You’ll have your own profile pic as your avatar when you comment –and I provide an example below –just like wordpress.com. Is that cool or what?
- Add social bookmarks so more people can drop by your site -for an example see below
With this new platform (sorry, I can’t seem to stop raving about it, can’t I?) there’s some blogs I read that I wish its owners would update.
There’s so many things going on in my mind like–
what theme would they use?
what’s going on in their lives?
what are their blog links?
Marlyn has already updated hers. Hooray! I wonder if I’ll be registered as a trackback like what they do at wordpress in her blog. Belated happy birthday! Update: No trackbacks. Darn.
Here are the following blogs that I’d like to see updated:
Semper Semper Ubi Ubi- #1 and you know why. I wonder what this evil genius will come up for his blog design. And belated happy birthday!
Jo Balls- blog about the LET, blog about whats-his-name-with-the-rabbit, and for god’s sake enable your comments in your blog!
Tonie- Advance happy 28th birthday!
Charm- beloved sister, thanks for giving me the Samba VCD I gave you.
Happy Blogging! And before I leave I want to address a certain rising porn star queen that her latest profile picture just doesn’t do her upper body justice! She just looks too serious with the marking that I cannot see the ‘Girl With the Diva’.
Stumble! Digg! Bookmark It! These are buttons to bookmark sites like this. Just try experimenting clicking on any of the buttons below. Don’t worry, they’re virus-free.

The Bisdak Experience- Queen Raquela Movie

Presenting an international awarded film shot in the Philippines. But wait, that’s not it! It was shot specifically in Cebu City and the dialogue is in Cebuano as well.
Plot: A film that uses real life subjects as its actors, The Amazing Truth about Queen Raquela was shot by an Icelandic director, Olaf de Fleur Johannesson. It’s about the transvestite Raquela’s journey from prostitute in Cebu City to her dream of walking the streets of Paris with the man she loves.
I didn’t believe my brother, Roni when he said this will be a big hit 2 years ago. And he was right. Ayaw pag dakog atay yotch (yes, I’m talking to you Tonton!).
I wish I can se this film when it comes out in Cebu so I can share in the local experience.

Queen Raquela Youtube trailer (guess we can’t yet post videos in Wordpress-Friendster)
Best line ever from the trailer?
Man: (approaching the transvestite Raquela): Adto tag Prince Court.
Lol.
Bisdak gyud.
You can find more information about it in the following links:

FRIENDSTER NOW USING WORDPRESS! Too Good To Be True?
September 17, 2008 | | 39 Comments
Out of curiosity, I got an email notification from friendster about their new blogging platform and decided to check into my originally defunct archaic friendster blog only for my jaw to drop open at its new familiar design. Wait a minute! It’s wordpress!
*Falls down from seat*
Like so many others, I moved out of friendster blogging because of its limited features and moved to wordpress blogging heaven. I can do more in my site at the original wordpress than the old friendster blog. But now with this move to wordpress, I’m tempted to stick around, especially since wordpress.com is blocked here in China and friendster is accessible for the time being.
OI, REGGIE GET YOUR BUTT IN HERE AND JOIN THE NEW BLOGGING CRAZE! YOU’LL LOVE THIS WORDPRESS BLOGGING PLATFORM!
This sort of thing just happened out of the blue like the twilight zone. there’s no news on the merge from google or the wordpress.com staff. Except on this post about the Wordcamp in the Philippines, Friendster announced its migration to Wordpress.
Too bad we can’t use Google ad-sense on it.
There’s no blog stats either.
Here are some links that talks about this change:

Young Author Plagiarist II
April 29, 2006 | | Leave a Comment
From NY Times article "Publisher Withdraws "How Opal Mehta Got Kissed" by Motoko Rich and Dinitia Smith,
Some of the plagiarism may have happened because she has a photographic
memory, Ms. Viswanathan said. "I remember by reading," she said. "I
never take notes." In a profile published in The New York Times earlier
this month, Ms. Viswanathan’s agent, Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, said the
plot and writing of "Opal" had been "1,000 percent" Ms. Viswanathan’s.
OH REALLY? *cough cough* If Ms. Viswanathan does indeed have a photographic memory, shouldn’t she remember the author?
If it’s also 10000 percent original, how come it has a similarity in plot with Ms. McCafferty’s books?
From Harvard Crimson,
But Random House, which published both of McCafferty’s novels, said in
a statement Tuesday that Viswanathan’s explanation was “deeply
troubling and disingenuous.”
But Ms. Viswanathan does get her comeuppance as
The publisher Little, Brown agreed to withdraw all editions of her chick-lit novel, "How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild and Got a Life," from the market.
Dreamworks, the studio that bought movie rights to her book is also withdrawing the movie deal. Sayonara Ms. Viswanathan!
I don’t know why I get such a delicious thrill on reading the author’s humiliations and suffering over this scandal. I should be a Mother Teresa and forgive this over teenage’s youth and folly and submit that it was but an innocent mistake.
Fucking not.
I am a sadist. I’m thoroughly pissed that such a naive young writer should get US$500,000 and get the 32nd spot on NY TIMES BESTSELLERS LIST and get a movie deal on a work she stole when there are many talented experienced writers whose books are original, compelling, intelligent, suffused with wit and metaphors and ripe for interpretation that should get that advance…deserve that advance! Not some spoiled rotten overachiever whose parents could afford a college counselor. Yulch.
And it’s obvious NY TIMES is babying her. Covering up the tween. The Harvard Crimson doesn’t spare her with its article and it’s the better of the two though it’s harshly straightforward and brutal: Publisher Pulls ‘Opal Mehta’

Stumble It!
