Ouran High School Host Club Ep. 1

Ouran High School Host Club is composed mostly of bishonens
(a.k.a beautiful boys) in a private high school academy who use their looks to
attract female clients. It’s a very light and funny romance series. Each of
them caters to a distinctive fetish of the clientele.  The mangaka purposely parodies the male cast
to popular shoujo male archetypes like:

  • the cute shota Lolita type (very young
    boy ranging from 10-17 years old. In this anime, the boy looks like a 10 year
    old called Honey-kun. He shares the same seiyuu/voice actor as Momiji in Fruits
    Basket)
  • the megane/eyeglass intelligent cool type
  • the shy girlish boy type
  • incest yaoi type
  • the tall, dark and handsome and rugged type
  • and the beautiful "prince" obnoxious
    type.

Yes, there are rose petals and stars but they’re done for parody purpose.
There’s actually more than meets the eye in this series but you’ll know it
after the first episode.

 And further proof that despite its boylove tones, there are
indeed some many serious straight guys watching this and giving good (yes, you heard
it) reviews about it. But I suggest you watch the episode first as reading the reviews can give away the MAJOR spoiler.

However, there are limits on how much a testosterone charged guy can take from this show as shown by this comment in animesuki.
